Months before its release date, House of the Dragon has reportedly begun development on Season 2 of the HBO series.

A new report from Redanian Intelligence claims Season 2 of HBO's upcoming House of the Dragon is already in the works,

suggesting a second season has already been greenlit, despite the lack of an official announcement. It's worth reiterating HBO has not confirmed the news.

While the first season has yet to hit screens, a second season may not come as a complete surprise to some.

While details concerning the plot of the series remain scarce, actor Ryan Corr previously teased audiences can expect a show on as grand a scale as Game of Thrones at its height

The show features a star-studded cast, with Paddy Considine playing King Viserys, Emma D'Arcy playing Princess Rhaenyra and Matt Smith portraying Prince Daemon Targaryen, the king's younger brother.

Rhys Ifans is also starring in the show as Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, with Olivia Cooke playing Ser Otto's daughter, Lady Alicent.

In addition, Steve Toussaint has been cast as Lord Corlys Velaryon, the head of House Velaryon; and Eve Best as Lord Corlys' wife and King Viserys' cousin, Princess Rhaenys Velaryon.
