Pop superstar and American Idol judge Katy Perry praised country music after her spectacular duet of "Where We Started," her single with country singer Thomas Rhett.

The song is the title track off of Thomas' latest album, and it was the first time that the song has ever been performed live.

Katy and Thomas' voices blended beautifully through the song, which tells the story about a couple looking back at where they started in order to inspire hope about their future together.

The descriptive verses and stirring choruses created an emotional performance that was one of the best of the night.

Katy has spent five seasons as a judge on American Idol, ever since ABC revived the show in 2018. She is one the most influential pop artists of the last decade

Katy then explained that her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom, has been shooting a movie in Kentucky for a couple of months and that she has been "in and out of there for a month now." She said

On the American Idol finale, Katy put her magic touch on "Where We Started." Her first country music collaboration showed that she has the talent to sing any genre.
