Canelo has proven to be one of the hottest commodities in boxing, in and out of the ring. He has become a force in any division in which he has competed, and his fight nights have become quite profitable over the years.

Canelo made his pro debut in 2005. He is 15-0-1 since losing to Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Last November, he beat Caleb Plant to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion.

The 31-year-old is set to fight Dmitry Bivol next for the WBA light-heavyweight title. That fight will take place inside the T-Mobile Arena on May 7.

The Sporting News looks into how Canelo has accumulated his fortune and where he stands among the wealthiest and most influential athletes in the world.

Per Celebrity Net Worth, Canelo Alvarez had a net worth of around $140 million in 2021. In 2018, he signed a $365 million contract with DAZN and Golden Boy.

The last loss Canelo had was at the hands of Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Per Essentially Sports, Canelo made $12 million for that fight. In his last fight against Caleb Plant, when he became undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo made $40 million.

The purse split between Canelo and Bivol is 70/30. Per Total Sportal, Canelo will make a guaranteed purse of $15 million.

The WBA light-heavyweight champion in Bivol is expected to make $2 million. This is before what they will earn through the PPV share process.
