Fox has officially confirmed the season 6 renewals of The Resident and 9-1-1. Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 follows the turbulent lives of first responders in LA.

Based on Marty Makary’s book Unaccountable, the medical drama adapted by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore and Roshan Sethi centers on the lives of the staff at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.

Now, Fox (via THR) has officially announced the season 6 renewals of both shows for the 2022-23 season.

The two procedural series kicked off their fifth seasons in September 2021, with the finale of 9-1-1 airing on May 16, a day before the final episode of The Resident.

As two of Fox’s most-watched shows, their renewal was widely expected despite a delay in negotiations due to Disney’s acquisition of 20th Television, the studio behind both dramma.

The Resident saw the highly-anticipated return of Emily VanCamp as Nic Nevin, while Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) tries to reconcile her death and begin the search for new love.

Concluding just a day earlier, the 9-1-1 season 5 finale proved something of an emotional roller-coaster with the break-up of Buck (Oliver Stark) and Taylor (Megan West),

Now that both shows are set to return in the fall, audiences will get to see what comes next after their surprising finales.
