Moon Knight’s Oscar Isaac says he’d like his MCU character to team up with Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, and, maybe, someday the Midnight Sons.
While mentioning the Midnight Sons, Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac says he wants his character to team up with Daredevil, Punisher, and Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney+’s upcoming series stars Isaac as its titular vigilante, Moon Knight/Marc Spector. Jeremy Slater serves as showrunner of the six-episode series, which is directed by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab’s team, consisting of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. In addition to Isaac, the cast is confirmed to include May Calamawy and Ethan Hawke as its mysterious antagonist.
In the comics, Marc Spector inherits his powers after making a life-saving pact with the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. The series’ trailers have focused on the character’s dissociative identity disorder, introducing Steven Grant—a mild-mannered gift shop employee who is plagued by blackouts and has next to no idea he shares a body with Marc Spector and/or Moon Knight. Executive producer on the series, Grant Curtis, has said Moon Knight doesn’t need the larger MCU to tell its origin story. However, this doesn’t mean its protagonist won’t team up with other heroes in the future.
During a recent interview with Strip Marvel (via Comicbook), Isaac was asked which other MCU characters he would like to see Moon Knight team up with. The actor mentioned Daredevil, Punisher, and Ghost Rider as being on his wishlist. He also said he’d enjoy seeing his character involved with the Midnight Sons.
In the comics, the Midnight Sons are a team of supernatural superheroes. Originally formed by Ghost Riders, Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze, the group would go on to include characters like Doctor Strange, Hellstrom, Morbius, Werewolf by Night, and more Ghost Riders. Given that most of these characters aren’t yet in the MCU, if the Midnight Sons were to form anytime soon, they’d likely look a little bit different. That said, no announcements have indicated this team up will happen. However, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil made his official MCU debut last year in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which bodes well for Jon Bernthal’s TV-MA Punisher being implemented as well.
Every season of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and The Defenders are now available to stream on Disney+, which changed its parental settings to adhere to TV-MA superheroes. As Phase 4 of the MCU gets darker, Moon Knight seemingly leads the charge on more horror-centric projects. Not long after that series, Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will release in theaters. The film’s focus on the multiverse could facilitate the implementation of any number of already-established characters. On top of that, a Blade film is on the horizon. It remains to be seen if Moon
