Dr. Strange : Multiverse of Madness

The latest TV spot for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness features new footage of Scarlet Witch and Baron Mordo.

The brief Cinemark trailer highlights the sheer scale of Doctor Strange’s latest adventure, recommending that fans experience it on as big a screen as possible. To illustrate the point, the video contains a slew of new clips highlighting Wanda Maximoff’s powerful chaos magic and Mordo’s deadly skill with what appears to be a mystical sword. The TV spot also includes many clips fans will undoubtedly recognize from earlier trailers such as Giganto’s hurling a bus at the Master of the Mystic Arts and the arrival of a superpowered individual that’s glowing orange and blue.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to rip open the ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe wider than ever before. Dealing with the consequences of his actions in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the titular sorcerer is forced to confront the multiverse and must save it from total collapse. Following the events of WandaVision, Scarlet Witch is expected to serve as the film’s main antagonist as she comes to terms with her newfound dark abilities. While Baron Mordo was teased as a villain during the post-credits scene of the original Doctor Strange, his role in the sequel is currently unknown but fans assume that he’ll oppose the ex-Sorcerer Supreme.

Beyond the spectacle of Multiverse of Madness, star Benedict Cumberbatch believes that the story will have substantial ramifications for the titular character. “I think this does veer into the realm of plot spoilers, so I can’t talk too much about it, because this film is definitely an evolution of [his character],” said Cumberbatch. “We’ll definitely see him being challenged on that front. That much I can say. And I think that’s a good thing. We need to shake him up.”

As for Wanda, the Scarlet Witch has a lot to prove in Multiverse of Madness; Co-producer Richie Palmer teased that the film will settle a debate that has raged between fans of the MCU. “I don’t know who’s more powerful than Wanda,” Palmer said. “Meeting the Wanda Maximoff at the end of [Avengers: Endgame] would have been a lot for Strange. Who comes out on top as the most powerful being in the universe? Maybe we find out at the end of the movie.”
